The business jet operator Laudamotion Executive GmbH often suffered from the similarity of names with the Ryanair subsidiary Laudamotion GmbH. The low-cost airline is a regular guest in negative headlines all over Europe. Now the operator of private aircraft has given itself a new name and operates as Sparfell Luftfahrt GmbH.

The two companies share a common history, because shortly after Laudamotion GmbH took over some of the assets of the insolvent Air Berlin subsidiary Niki, the business travel division was spun off into Laudamotion Executive GmbH. Ryanair quickly took over the low-cost airline, but the business jets fell in love with Niki Lauda's NL Holding GmbH. After his death, the heirs sold the company to the Sparfell Group.

The use of the name Laudamotion is history, because the private jet operator is now using the Sparfell brand. There was also a change a long time ago with the low-cost airline, because instead of “Laudamotion”, only “Lauda” was used in the public image. However, this is almost over, because Laudamotion GmbH is to be closed. The Maltese successor, Lauda Europe Ltd, still uses uniforms and aircraft with the Lauda logo, but these could also disappear with the reflotting on the Boeing 737.
