On Friday, the Austrian airline Laudamotion GmbH announced almost all of the remaining staff in the Schwechat office. Previously, an early registration was made with the Public Employment Service. As early as the end of June 2020, the proverbial iron broom was driven through the site and the press office was even terminated.

The Lauda management has been on the diving station for a few days and also wanted to take the first flight of the successor airline Lauda Europe Ltd. do not express. Numerous tasks that were previously carried out in Vienna will in future be carried out by Ryanair in Dublin and Malta Air in Birkirkara. The Polish sister company Buzz has been carrying out crew contact from Warsaw for a few weeks now.

Only a small team is to remain in Vienna, which will act as a kind of “extended ward management”. The nominated persons of Lauda Europe Ltd. are definitely not from the layoffs. affected. These are required in any case for legal reasons. According to reports, the Maltese successor needs a few momentary Laudamotion administrative staff. A new job is to be offered to them. It is also unclear whether the job will then have to be carried out from Vienna or in Birkirkara.

Lauda is currently in the process of transforming Laudamotion GmbH to Lauda Europe Ltd. Once this process has been completed, the Austrian company is to be closed and only the Maltese start-up, which carried out its first scheduled flight on Friday, will be operational. The paintwork of the aircraft remains the same, by the way. Only the Austrian national emblem was replaced by a Maltese one. In future, registrations will no longer begin with OE-, but with 9H.

Laudamotion managing director Andreas Gruber is also silent about his own future. Corresponding questions are not answered by him. At Lauda Europe Ltd. According to the Maltese commercial register, he does not hold a management position. However, its co-managing director, David O'Brien, who is also on the Ryanair board of directors, is the CEO of Lauda Europe. He also acts as an accountable manager and is therefore also head of the nominated persons (formerly post holder).
