The aviation sector is ailing. Layoffs are the order of the day in times of Corona. This is also the case at London City Airport: More than a third of the employment contracts are to be terminated.

That could mean the end for up to 239 jobs. These people have to leave so that others can stay - so that the airport can get through the crisis in the first place. Because the number of passengers fell in the lockdown phase like never before. Like the news portal "The Guardian”Reports, after the resumption of regular flight operations at the end of June, only 17 routes will be served at the actually busy airport.

“The aviation sector is in the greatest crisis in history. We held back as long as possible and tried to keep all employees on board as much as possible. But unfortunately we are not immune to the devastating effects of this virus either, ”said CEO Robert Sinclair.
