In the commercial aircraft lessor space, the next elephant wedding is imminent. SMBC Aviation Capital acquires Goshawk Aviation. This creates the second largest Lessor in the world.

It is planned that the portfolio will be merged. SMBC will acquire the competitor and all of its assets. The purchase price is around 6,7 billion US dollars. The transaction is still subject to the approval of the competition authorities.

Consolidation has been underway in the lessor space for some time. For example, Aercap has acquired former competitor Gecas and is currently in the merger process. From this is the largest aircraft lessor in the world.
