From today, visitors to L'Envol des Pionniers, a museum in Toulouse, can take an extraordinary journey through the history of Air France. In a space dedicated to the history of French aviation, a special exhibition will be presented that traces the airline's journey from its early days in 1933 to the modern developments of the present day. This exhibition, which will run for two years, invites visitors to engage with over 170 original objects from the company's history and experience the airline's evolution. From iconic models to legendary couture uniforms, the exhibition offers an in-depth look at the travel experience that Air France has created over the years.

Known for its central role in the narrative of French aviation history, L'Envol des Pionniers takes the opportunity to highlight the close relationship between Toulouse and Air France. Considered the birthplace of Aéropostale and closely linked to early civil aviation, the city was also a major site for the airline's maintenance and operations for decades. The exhibition highlights this link and allows visitors to discover the history of aviation and the development of Air France from the perspective of one of the company's historic maintenance centers.

The exhibition itself is divided into four thematic sections that provide a clear overview of the airline's different eras and developments. The first section, "Enter the legend", takes visitors back to the origins of Air France and presents the airline's first days using historical artifacts and archive material. Numerous emblematic posters that marked the airline's early years complement this section and illustrate the company's growth in its early years.

The second section is entitled "A historical link with Toulouse" and is dedicated to the role that Toulouse played for Air France. Until 2003, the city served as a major maintenance base for the company. The exhibition shows the close ties between the region and the airline and highlights how Toulouse served as a central hub for Air France's operations. This part of the exhibition also highlights how the aviation industry developed in the region and the city's contribution to aviation history.

In the third section, "Elegance is a Journey," visitors are immersed in Air France's distinctive travel experience. Eight of the airline's legendary aircraft are on display here, allowing visitors to experience the evolution of the flight experience and the special elegance that characterizes Air France. From the classic aircraft model to details of the onboard service, this section offers a fascinating look at the airline's travel history.

The final part of the exhibition, "Our professions and our expertise", highlights the multitude of professions created at Air France over the years and highlights the exceptional expertise of its staff. The exhibition here focuses on the evolution of technology and the precise work of the teams who work behind the scenes to make travelling with Air France a unique experience.

In addition to the exhibition at L'Envol des Pionniers, the history of Air France is also being made accessible to a wider audience at Galeries Lafayette Toulouse. In this prestigious department store, passers-by can experience a special presentation of Air France, which includes replica aircraft windows and a selection of iconic Air France uniforms and vintage posters. This cooperation between Air France and L'Envol des Pionniers ensures that the history of the airline is brought to the heart of the "pink city".

Visitors will also have the opportunity to enter an exclusive competition to win airline tickets to a selection of seven international destinations. The competition runs until March 2, 2025 and offers winners the opportunity to experience for themselves the travel experiences that Air France has perfected over decades.

Toulouse's connection with aviation history runs deep, and L'Envol des Pionniers plays a significant role in this. It is more than just a museum; it is a place where history comes alive and the heritage of civil aviation is celebrated. In partnership with institutions such as Airbus and the French aviation agency CNES, the museum offers a comprehensive insight into the evolution of aviation technology and the airlines that have had a significant impact on the world of aviation. L'Envol des Pionniers remains a central point of contact for anyone interested in learning more about the origins of aviation and the history of Air France.

The exhibition "Air France, a history of elegance" offers a rare opportunity to experience the history of this great airline up close and take a look behind the scenes of the unique travel experience that has made Air France one of the most recognized brands in the world.
