Nine airlines have applied for subsidized routes from the Slovenian capital airport Ljubljana. Lufthansa, Air Serbia, Montenegro Airlines, Air France, Turkish Airlines, Swiss, Easyjet, Wizzair and Lot submitted their applications within the offer period.

The local portal Ex-Yu-Aviation.com writes, referring to the tender, that at least two weekly flights per week for at least two months were offered to take advantage of the funding. According to the portal, this would exclude Swiss, as no flights to Slovenia have been offered since the beginning of the corona crisis in March 2020.

The applications are now being examined by a committee set up by the Ministry of Transport. The aim of the measure is to strengthen and expand Slovenia's connectivity. The criteria according to which the amount of funding is calculated assess many different factors. A maximum of 1,5 million euros is currently available in the first tranche per route. The second distribution can then amount to up to 3,5 million euros. By the way: The number of passengers who were and will be transported to and from Slovenia also plays a decisive role in the amount of the subsidy.
