LOT Polish Airlines launched a new service for the summer months, which flies every Monday and Wednesday from Warsaw to Luqa. The first flight brought an interesting Embraer 195 to the island in a hybrid livery reminiscent of the bright yellow of Ivolga Airlines, formerly known as Saratov Airlines.

Saratov Airlines was forced to change its name after a high-profile crash that put them in the spotlight of Russian authorities. The airframe was originally delivered to the now defunct airline FlyBe in 2007.

Alex Cardona, Head of Traffic Development at Luqa Airport, said that everyone at Malta International Airport is looking forward to welcoming the Polish airline back to regular operations after a brief stint last year. He stressed that the schedule has been optimized to make it ideal for vacationers planning a European city break for their next vacation.
