The Lufthansa Group has so far paid back around three billion euros to customers. The group announced this on Friday. However, according to the law, the repayment should have been made within seven days. The consumer advice center Baden-Württemberg brought a lawsuit in this regard to the court.

Lufthansa explains in a media broadcast that around three billion euros had been reimbursed to around seven million customers by September 30, 2020. The information should include the subsidiaries. Accordingly, around 700.000 customers should still wait for repayments of around 350 million euros.

The group writes: “Constantly changing travel restrictions and the current political decisions force Lufthansa to make extensive changes to flight plans at short notice. This leads to inevitable flight cancellations. The related refund requests will be processed as soon as possible. Therefore, the number of open reimbursement applications will continue to develop dynamically, will continue to decrease in the coming weeks, but will not reach zero. "
