The flight attendant union UFO and Lufthansa have agreed on a new collective agreement. The basic salary is to be increased by 1 euros as of January 2023, 250. There will be a wage increase of 1 percent effective July 2023, 2,5. Around 19.000 cabin employees of the crane airline are affected.

After lengthy negotiations, UFO and Lufthansa have agreed on a new remuneration and framework collective agreement as well as a part-time collective agreement for cabin crew. Among other things, this stipulates that the basic salary will be increased by 1 euros per month as of January 2023, 250. From July 1, 2023, salaries will be increased by 2,5 percent. The new collective wage agreement will run until at least December 31, 2023. The new wage and framework collective agreement also formally ends the crisis agreement concluded in June 2020 due to the corona pandemic.

The entry-level salaries in particular will benefit from the agreement. Career starters: inside the cabin receive an additional 17 percent basic salary, cabin employees in the final stage still almost nine percent. In August this year, Lufthansa and UFO agreed on five one-off payments totaling EUR 1.200 for all cabin crew.

"Our patient and tenacious attitude during the months of negotiations has paid off: With a first solid pay increase after two years of crisis caused by the pandemic, we can now go through 2023, for which an upswing is forecast at Lufthansa. We are convinced that the safeguarding of valuable jobs in the Lufthansa cabin can be further promoted in this way," comments UFO collective bargaining board member Stefan Schwerthelm on the result.

In addition, the collective bargaining parties have agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement. Among other things, this offers working time models with flexibility for higher productivity in the high-demand summer months. We are pleased that, together with our collective bargaining partner UFO, we have succeeded in agreeing on salary increases with a strong social component for our cabin crew at Deutsche Lufthansa AG and at the same time concluding a new collective wage agreement,” says Michael Niggemann, Board Member for Human Resources and Labor Director at Deutsche Lufthansa AG . “Lower and middle salary groups benefit disproportionately from the agreement. In this way, we meet our social responsibility and ensure our attractiveness as an employer. The new flexible working time models offer prospects and attractive framework conditions that take the needs of cabin employees into account”.
