Lufthansa’s supervisory board chairman calls for the number of supervisory board mandates to be reduced to six. This also applies to the number of members.

A statutory limitation of the mandates of supervisory boards would make the supervisory bodies more efficient, said Karl-Ludwig Kley. Among other things, this contributes to the professionalism and quick-wittedness of corporate controllers. “Many a clumsy mandate termination and replacement lately would certainly have been avoided or at least would have worked more smoothly and thus averted damage to the respective company, if it had been in more professional hands,” says Kley of the colleagues from airliners cited.
