Germany's largest aviation group, Lufthansa, wants to part with fewer employees than originally planned. According to a report in the Handelsblatt, which refers to circles of executives and supervisory boards, the job cuts have been stopped.

Officially, the carrier does not want to comment on the article and refers to the presentation of the business figures, which will take place in early March 2022. At the beginning of the corona pandemic, Lufthansa planned to reduce the workforce from around 140.000 full-time positions to 100.000 jobs. They wanted to do this primarily with the help of natural turnover, retirements and so on.

According to the Handelsblatt report, the aim is to keep the number of employees at around 107.000. That would mean around 32.000 fewer employees than before the start of the corona pandemic. In the meantime, there is also a search for staff in some areas. In the area of flight attendants in particular, there were more departures from some group airlines than expected, so that cabin staff are needed again.
