As of October 11, 2022, the airlines in the Lufthansa Group will adjust the global fare structures in all travel classes. In the course of this, rebooking fees will be introduced for most tariffs.

For example, the Economy Classic fare on European flights can only be changed for a fee of 35 euros, as the LH Group announced in a sales communication. The travel date, start and destination as well as the routing can still be changed. So far, changes to the Classic tariffs have been free of charge.

High surcharges on many long-distance routes

In the future, it will be really expensive for rebookings on long-distance routes, where changes to the Economy Light tariff have so far been free of charge. For flights to the USA, Canada and Central America, customers have to pay from 150 euros for rebookings in the Saver/Best Buy fare, with the Base/Restricted fare the surcharge is from 120 euros. In the cheapest light category without baggage allowance, changes are no longer possible.

For routes to and from Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America, the Light fare can still be rebooked, but that will cost a whopping 200 euros or more. If you have booked Saver/Best Buy, a fee of 150 euros or more is due; for Base/Restricted, the Lufthansa airlines charge a surcharge of 120 euros or more. Flights to and from Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore are excluded from the new regulation.

However, if passengers have chosen the flex option, nothing changes: they can still make rebookings in all cabin classes free of charge.

Corporate tariffs initially unchanged

As Lufthansa further reports, the changes affect all sales channels and all published fares. The conditions of the corporate fares for corporate customers initially remain unchanged, unless the fare base code corresponds to the published tariff. However, this only applies to tickets issued up to and including March 31, 2023. After that, the conditions of the published tariffs apply to all corporate fares.

The changes apply to the airlines Lufthansa, Eurowings Discover, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Swiss and Air Dolomiti.

Funny, with other big airlines you read about achievements like new seats, new comfort features, etc. etc.
Lufthansa doesn't seem to have anything like that anymore.
The standard seating in business travel class still does not have fully flat seats, the Alitalia strike virus has obviously jumped over the Alps, the formerly very professional and friendly flight attendants seem to be dying out, the quality of the food is steadily deteriorating in my opinion, while new charges seem to be spreading like metastases.
Sometimes it seems to me that Lufthansa is intentionally hitting a wall.
Just like the whole so-called western world.
