Lufthansa has ordered around 24.000 economy class seats from the German manufacturer Recaro, which are to be installed in Mainline and Swiss. These are the CL3710 and CL3810 models. The order volume corresponds to the requirements for around 100 aircraft.

"We look back on 50 years of partnership with Lufthansa and it is a great honor for us to continue working with them to optimize passenger journeys," said Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro Holding. "Our shared goals for sustainable, comfortable seating solutions have helped both Recaro and Lufthansa achieve great success, and I am confident that our CL3710 and CL3810 seats will continue this tradition of excellence."

The CL3810 economy class seat will be retrofitted to Swiss' A330-300 and Lufthansa's B747-8 aircraft. The seat is 15 percent lighter than its predecessor, allowing airlines to save thousands in fuel costs and optimize cabin performance. The modular design of the CL3710 in Lufthansa colors minimizes maintenance and keeps the total cost of ownership low. The six-way adjustable headrest with neck support increases passenger sleeping comfort, and the seat storage flap is designed to accommodate personal smart devices conveniently.
