Lufthansa and the Verdi trade union have agreed on a tax and duty-free Corona special payment for employees of 800 euros.

The bonus is to be paid out in March. Part-time employees receive the amount pro rata. In areas where lower premiums have already been agreed, the amount is to be increased accordingly. After the Lufthansa Group had stubbornly refused to pay a corona bonus since 2020, employee representatives were able to agree a bonus for cabin workers at Eurowings for the first time in the Lufthansa Group at the beginning of this year.

"The burdens in more than two years of crisis were and are diverse: In many areas there is enormous overload and work intensification, in others short-time work led to psychological stress. The Corona premium cannot compensate for all these burdens and health risks, but it is an important and overdue sign of recognition, especially for ground and cabin crew," said Verdi Deputy Chairwoman Christine Behle.
