It is well known that Lufthansa cheap offers from competitors have never been part of the deal. Board member Harry Hohmeister has now spoken out in favor of minimum prices for flight tickets.

In an interview with the newspapers of the Funke media group, he said: "If minimum prices mean that airlines have to cover their costs and are not allowed to call up fancy prices below the applicable taxes and fees, then that is legitimate". Indirectly, he speaks out in favor of the project of the Austrian Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens), who wants to enforce that flight tickets must cost at least as much as the taxes and fees. The government member named around 2020 euros as the bottom edge in summer 40 and promptly received public support from AUA boss Alexis von Hoensbroech.

The minimum prices have not yet been implemented. The EU Commission was critical of Leonore Gewessler's project. In Germany, the discussion only picked up new momentum a few weeks ago, because the top candidates from the SPD and the Greens are of the opinion that they can win votes with this issue. However, a survey showed that 26 percent of Germans are against artificial price increases or even the ban and short-haul flights.
