Deutsche Lufthansa and Condor have extended their cooperation until May next year and have settled their dispute over feeder flights for the smaller holiday airline for the time being.

“This binding agreement between Lufthansa and Condor in the sense of a constructive partnership applies for the expected duration of the main proceedings at the Federal Cartel Office”, both airlines announced together. Condor can now continue to offer its customers feeder flights from Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines on long-haul flights with a flight date up to May 10, 2022. That reports among other things Travel before 9.

The Lufthansa Group had actually terminated the commercial agreement with Condor for feeder flights in June 2021. On the other hand, Condor had filed a complaint with the Federal Cartel Office in January and accused the group of abuse of its dominant position. After the extension, the complaint has probably also become obsolete. The urgent proceedings that are still ongoing will probably be discontinued, according to Federal Cartel Office President Andreas Mundt.

"But we will examine in the main proceedings whether the agreement must be maintained beyond the next 12 months," he said. “In our preliminary opinion, Lufthansa is the market leader in the offer of feeder flights to the major airports in Germany. There are therefore other antitrust issues that need to be examined regardless of the fundamental continuation of the contracts. "
