To Austrian Airlines The parent company Lufthansa is also starting its first test run with rapid antigen tests. From November 12, 2020, passengers on selected routes between Munich and Hamburg will be tested free of charge. If you don't want to take part, you can rebook at no extra cost, according to Kranich.

In close cooperation with Munich and Hamburg Airports as well as the biotech company Centogene and the medical supply center of the Medicover Group, MVZ Martinsried, the airline offers its customers the opportunity to be tested for Covid-19 free of charge on two daily flights before departure . Passengers who do not want to be tested will be rebooked on an alternative flight at no additional cost.

The first test flight with passengers who tested 100 percent negative is LH2058, which leaves Munich at 9.10 a.m. for Hamburg. The second daily flight on which all guests are tested is LH2059 from Hamburg to Munich.

After the test, customers receive their test results within 30 to 60 minutes. Only if the result is negative will the boarding pass be activated and access to the gate allowed. Alternatively, passengers can present a negative PCR test that is not older than 48 hours upon departure. Lufthansa takes care of the entire rapid test process. There are no extra costs for the passenger. All he has to do is register in advance and allow a little more time before departure.

“With our test strategy, we are pursuing the goal of using the data obtained to collect important findings in dealing with rapid tests. Successful testing of entire flights can become the key to revitalizing international air traffic, ”says Christina Foerster, Executive Board Member Lufthansa Group Customer, IT & Corporate Responsibility.
