Under the project name "Allegris", Lufthansa is modernizing the cabins on long-haul routes. In the future, so-called double suites will be offered in both first and business class. In general, the carrier wants to make more choices available in the future.

The flagship of the new long-haul cabin is the "Suite Plus". A separate double cabin with floor-to-ceiling walls and lockable door, large table and two wide seats that can be combined into a comfortable double bed if required. Guests can heat or cool their almost one meter wide seats in the suite according to their personal needs and connect their own mobile device to the entertainment system. A cloakroom in the suite offers sufficient storage space so that travelers can easily change their clothes and have all their personal belongings within easy reach. The meals, which Lufthansa says should be served at the desired time, can be taken at a first-class table.

Around 2,5 billion euros will be invested

The new cabin should be available from next year. Initially, this will be installed on all newly delivered Airbus A350. The group is letting the “Allegris” project cost around 2025 billion euros by 2,5. It is promised that there will be significant improvements in all travel classes. With the “Allegris” offer, more than 80 brand-new Lufthansa aircraft such as Boeing 787-9, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777-9 will fly to destinations all over the world. Aircraft already used by Lufthansa, such as the Boeing 747-8, will also be converted. The simultaneous improvement of the travel experience in all classes and the replacement of more than 27.000 seats are unique in Lufthansa's history.

"Every guest has their own understanding of premium, which is why we rely on maximum individuality and exclusivity. The First Class Suite Plus feels as private and individual as a hotel room – only eleven kilometers up,” explained Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, at the presentation of the “First Class Suite Plus” on February 28 in Berlin. "The Allegris series promises individuality, exclusivity and freedom and thus future premium service along the entire travel chain."

Suites also in business class

In Business Class, the Kranich Group will be offering suites for the first time. These are separated by chest-high walls and sliding doors. In the first rows there should be additional space and a screen up to 27 inches in size. Each suite also has its own wardrobe and personal minibar. Inside, the two suites can be connected so that Business Class passengers traveling together can enjoy a high degree of privacy.

In addition, with "Allegris" the freedom of choice for passengers in Business Class is greater than ever before. Travelers can choose between six additional seating options, depending on whether they want an extra-long bed measuring 2,20 meters in length, extra space and work space, a seat with an infant carrier or simply an exclusive seat right by the window. A double seat, in which the center console can be lowered and thus transformed into a bed for two people, is also available.

Economy and premium economy are also being improved

There will also be improvements in the premium economy class. This is based on the product introduced at the Swiss subsidiary in spring 2022. The "Allegris" seat offers more legroom, a fold-out legrest and can be set even further back than the current model. Because it is integrated into a hard shell, adjusting it has no effect on fellow passengers in the row behind it. Table and monitor always remain in position.

With the new “Allegris” product generation, Lufthansa is also giving its passengers significantly more choice in Economy Class: In the future, travelers will have the option of booking seats in the first row with more legroom or a free seat next to them.
