Lufthansa takes Eurowings, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings Discover into the wet lease

In the 2022/23 winter timetable, Lufthansa will wet-lease some aircraft from subsidiaries. These are aircraft from Austrian Airlines, Eurowings and Eurowings Discover, which are used on some crane routes from Frankfurt am Main.

As reported Austrian Airlines will fly two Airbus A320s on behalf of the parent company until the end of this year. The two aircraft will be used from Frankfurt am Main in the direction of Graz, Vienna, Helsinki, Amsterdam and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, among other destinations.

Eurowings is expected to fly Airbus A2022s for Lufthansa between November and the end of 319. The following destinations are to be served from Frankfurt am Main: Billund, Bologna, Bordeaux, Bremen, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Krakow, Lyon, Manchester, Marseille, Milan-Malpensa, Nice, Nuremberg, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Rome- Fiumicino, Stockholm-Arlanda, Stuttgart, Toulouse, Venice, Warsaw and Zurich. The wet lease is planned for some routes between January and March 2023.

An Airbus A320 operated by Eurowings Discover is also wet leased. According to the current state of information, this should be used from Frankfurt am Main to Berlin, Dublin, Oslo and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Eurowings Discover takes over Canada flights from Lufthansa

There are also some changes on long-haul routes, as Eurowings Discover will operate some Canada flights for Lufthansa from Frankfurt am Main. These are the destinations Toronto and Vancouver. Among other things, the changes have been made visible in the reservation system of codeshare partner Air Canada.

From October 30, 2022, the Airbus A330-300 model operated by Eurowings Discover will be used on the route between Frankfurt and Toronto as course pair 4Y078/AC7392 (outbound flight) and 4Y079/AC7393 (return flight). Lufthansa Airbus A340-300s are currently being used. Eurowings Discover will occasionally fly towards Toronto with A330-200.

From November 7, 2022, Vancouver is to be served six times a week with Airbus A330-300 Eurowings Discover. From December 9, 2022, daily flights are to take place. Airbus A340-300s previously operated by Lufthansa are also used on this route. For the time being, the published flight schedule is limited to March 11, 2023. Individual rotations with A330-200s are also loaded in the direction of Vancouver.
