In a festive ceremony at Manila Airport, Lufthansa Technik Philippines recently inaugurated a new hangar that adds three more lines to the existing seven maintenance lines.
Depending on requirements, the new hangar's slots can be configured to accommodate four narrowbody aircraft or one widebody aircraft and two narrowbody aircraft. Alternatively, an Airbus A380 could also be included. The completion of the 9.000 square meter hangar, which was originally scheduled for September 2020, was delayed due to the corona pandemic.
“This milestone is something very special for Lufthansa Technik Philippines in the 22nd year of our existence. It marks a transition from some of the most difficult times we have experienced as a business due to the pandemic to the current phase of tangible recovery. This is concrete, tangible proof that we are seeing clear skies ahead of us,” said Elmar Lutter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik Philippines at the opening ceremony.
The fourth hangar will increase overhaul capacities by up to 20 percent and at least 275 additional employees
occupy. “With the opening of the new hangar, Lufthansa Technik Philippines is responding to the increasing demand for aircraft overhaul as travel continues to increase and a majority of the global fleets are now back in service. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers first-class service and to make a valuable contribution to stabilizing their flight operations with reliable overhauls,” says Rainer Janke, Vice President for Marketing & Sales at Lufthansa Technik Philippines.
