The airline Luxair announced on October 11, 2023 that it had ordered four Embraer E195-E2s. Options for five additional copies have also been secured.

Both the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer and its competitor Airbus have been trying for a long time to land the order from Luxembourg. Embraer won the race. The wet lease provided by German Airways with two Embraer 190s may have played a decisive role.

The four firmly ordered aircraft are scheduled to be delivered from the 4th quarter of 2025. Luxair is not a new customer, as in the past the carrier used the Embraer 145, which has since been phased out.
