From November 6, 2021, Madagascar wants to receive tourists from Europe again. For this purpose, the borders are at least partially opened. Initially, this will affect scheduled flights operated by Air Madagascar and Air France, among other things. Furthermore, some charter from Milan are to be reactivated.

In regional traffic, Madagascar will open on October 23, 2021. Air traffic is to be gradually resumed. Europeans should be allowed to enter again for tourist purposes from November 6, 2021.

The plans currently stipulate that all passengers - regardless of their vaccination status - must undergo a PCR test for a fee upon arrival in Madagascar. Until the results are available, you are placed in quarantine and are not allowed to leave the hotel. If the test is negative, you can move about freely in the state. If this is positive, you will be quarantined for at least 14 days.

It is currently planned that the airlines will have to collect the approximately 25 euros for the PCR test at the same time as the ticket price and forward it to the authorities. In the beginning, however, it could happen that this has not yet been implemented, so that the costs for the on-site testing have to be borne.

Incidentally, Madagascar is initially restricting the number of flights to one connection per five hours per airport. The aim is to prevent long queues and at the same time improve the capacities of the laboratories.
