Malaysia Aviation Group has ordered a total of 20 Airbus A330-900s for its Malaysia Airlines subsidiary. Ten units will be leased directly from Avolon. The remaining copies have been ordered from the manufacturer, but these are going on sale-and-leaseback with the same Lessor.
“The acquisition of the A330neo is a natural transition from our current A330ceo fleet. The A330neo will not only modernize the fleet and increase operational efficiencies, but will also meet environmental targets through reduced fuel consumption per seat, with the focus on passenger safety and comfort,” said CEO Izham Ismail.
The ordered long-haul aircraft are to be delivered to Kuala Lumpur from the third quarter of 2023 to 2028. The machines are to have 300 seats, but the airline has not yet given any specific information about how many seats will be in economy and business class. In any case, the cabin will be in a two-class configuration.
