Germany is lifting the travel warnings for the Azores and Balearic Islands. Now there is a real gold rush feeling among the organizers, because the hope for short-term bookings for the Easter holidays is quite high. But there is a big catch: Spain and Portugal continue to require test certificates.
Just because Germany will in future allow entry from the Azores or Balearic Islands without tests and quarantine does not mean that Spain and Portugal will forego it among German customers. DER-Touristik wants to simplify this small detail for its own customers by means of free PCR tests.
Other organizers, such as FTI, are now running special promotions that want to grant a discount of around 150 euros for Easter bookings made up to and including Monday. The aim is to encourage Germans to vacation on Mallorca and Co. through low prices. Industry crisis Tui is even bringing the planned start of Palma forward by a week to March 21, 2021 and is beating the drum for Easter bookings.
Thus, numerous short-term offers for Easter holidays in the Balearic and Azores can be expected. Travelers are urgently advised that they not only inform themselves about the regulations when returning to Germany, but also about the entry regulations of the destination country, e.g. Spain and Portugal. It may be necessary to submit negative PCR tests, and some areas also require quarantine. It is therefore urgently advisable to obtain binding information from official bodies in the respective countries. Attention: The rules can change at short notice.
