The Austrian airline Easyjet Europe is resisting mandatory corona tests that should be carried out before departure in Palma with a destination in Germany. The group points out that this would not be the task of the airlines, but of the passengers.
Competitors Eurowings, Lufthansa, Tuifly and Condor were able to avert compulsory quarantine around Easter with the offer that mandatory corona tests are organized before departure in Palma. Easyjet thinks nothing of that and does not want to participate in the implementation, writes the Berliner Tagesspiegel, citing a statement from the low-cost airline.
Country manager Stephan Erler criticizes the fact that Germany has "still not implemented a nationwide test and entry strategy". Easyjet is now expecting a binding regulation that is the same for all airlines, namely “coming from both risk and non-risk areas”. Erler also reiterates the demand for Europe-wide uniform travel rules that airlines and passengers can use as a guide.
