On the occasion of the international travel fair ITB, which can currently only be held virtually, Alltours owner Willi Verhuven addresses clear expectations of the Mallorcan government and its tourism ministry for the summer season.

This includes that only people with a negative corona test are allowed to travel to Mallorca and party tourism is prohibited on the Balearic Islands and especially on Mallorca. At the same time, the alltours boss honors the efforts of the island government in the fight against Corona. The low incidence of currently just 22 on Mallorca and a 7-day value of under 35 for more than a week give hope for a relaxing Easter and summer vacation on the holiday island, which is popular with Germans. “With the opening of our allsun hotels on Mallorca on March 17th, we have sent a clear signal. Now the Balearic government is asked to take clear measures so that the success is not jeopardized ”, said Willi Verhuven.

Don't repeat past mistakes

A negative test must be a condition for all air travel to Mallorca. This also expressly includes all domestic Spanish flights. In addition, entry by land and sea would have to be included. As islands, the Balearic Islands with Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera have the best conditions for appropriate controls.

Last summer, politicians made the mistake of not testing domestic Spanish passengers for Corona - even travelers from the Corona hotspots Madrid and Barcelona at the time. The CEO is convinced that this mistake should not be repeated.

Holiday pleasure yes - recklessness no

Party tourism and alcohol excesses like last year, which led to an increase in the number of infections and ultimately to the closure of the restaurants, should not happen again. Alltours makes it clear that there is nothing against opening bars and restaurants - but in compliance with safety and hygiene regulations. At party venues such as discos and the Balinarios on Playa de Palma, the opening times would have to be limited and more controls carried out.

"The misconduct of some must not be at the expense of the many sensible tourists as well as those employed in the hotel and catering trade, who already suffer from short-time work and are severely affected financially," explains Willi Verhuven. “Given these conditions, we are confident that Mallorca will have a good summer season. In any case, we will do our part ”, promises the Alltours boss and announces that he wants to bring between 200.000 and 400.000 guests to Mallorca in the summer.
