The Republic of Malta places various countries, including Austria and Switzerland, on the so-called Amber List. As a result, people who travel by air via countries or airports that are on this list must present a negative PCR test, which must not be older than 72 hours, upon entry. Alternatively, the testing can be carried out on site, but you risk a quarantine until the result is certain.
Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abela announced a few days ago that a Conversion to mandatory corona rapid tests is scheduled on arrival. These would then replace the Amber List, but no specific date has yet been set for their use. Until then, travelers who fly to / from Luqa are urgently advised to keep an eye on both entry and quarantine regulations.
The following countries are now on the Amber List, which will come into force in this form on Friday:
- Austria
- Switzerland
- Belgium (new: all airports)
- Bulgaria
- Czechia
- France (Paris airports and Marseille only)
- Hungary
- Ireland
- Netherlands
- Poland (only Gdansk and Krakow)
- Portugal (only postage)
- Spain (Madrid, Girona and Barcelona only)
- Switzerland (new: all airports)
- Tunisia
United Kingdom (Belfast, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle only)
