The Republic of Malta will implement new entry guidelines on Friday at midnight. The countries of origin are now divided into three groups, although the list on which Austria, Germany and Switzerland will be found has not yet been published.
There are still no restrictions for those states that are classified as “green”. Only the locator form and a declaration that you have only stayed in countries listed in green in the last 14 days have to be filled out and signed. To this day, Austria and Germany are on the “green list”. Whether it will stay that way should be published in the next few days, at least before Friday.
Those countries that Malta classifies as “red” are banned from traveling. As a result, flight connections to countries that are on the red list are prohibited. Entry by other means, for example by ship, is then also impossible. The Mediterranean state wants to revise the list of “red states” in the course of this week and at least publish it before Friday.
An intermediate level is new, which is known as the “amber list”. Countries will be accepted into these countries which, from the point of view of the Maltese health authorities, are exactly between green and red. Passengers who want to enter from these countries must present a negative corona test from Friday, which must not be older than 48 hours. Otherwise, entry will be refused. Which countries are classified as “amber” should be published in the next few days, at least before Friday.
Corona measures are being tightened again in the Republic of Malta. For example, discos and bars have to close again from Friday. In restaurants, the minimum distance between tables must be increased to two meters. All gatherings of more than 15 people are then prohibited. The government reacted to the increasing number of cases, which are also heavily influenced by refugee boats full of infected people. Most recently, the doctors even threatened a strike if the government should not take further measures. The reclassification of the countries of origin should, if possible, be published by the authorities during the course of the day, but if necessary before Friday.
