Marathon Airlines fleets first Embraer 190

Just in time for midsummer, the Greek Marathon Airlines is expanding its fleet. A few days ago, the first Embraer 190 regional jet was taken over. So far, two small E175s have been operated in this segment, which, among other things, fly for Lübeck Air from Lübeck and a tour operator from Innsbruck.

The company was originally a pure business jet operator. Some time ago the decision was made to enter the ACMI and charter business. To do this, they first organized one and then a second Embraer 175. These machines have already flown for a number of tour operators or served one or the other scheduled route as part of wet lease orders received from other carriers. You can fly between Athens and Benghazi at your own expense.

The third airliner to join the Greek carrier's fleet is also the next size option from Embraer: a 15-year-old E190 is being leased from Azzora Aviation, as initially reported by CH-Aviation.com. The regional jet was previously used as G-LCYW for BA Cityflyer.

A few weeks ago it was speculated that the virtual construct that has not taken off could be used by Marathon Airlines to fly Liliair from Klagenfurt. Previously it was said that a contract was signed with Flite, the European offshoot of Mesa. Ultimately, Liliair did not take off and Lilihill is no longer the majority owner of Klagenfurt Airport.
