Unvaccinated travelers planning to visit the French Caribbean island of Martinique no longer need to self-quarantine.

The regulation only applies to entries from countries classified as green, which also include Austria and Germany. In addition to the lifting of the seven-day quarantine requirement for unvaccinated people, travelers who are not or not fully immunized no longer have to be able to show a valid reason for traveling to Martinique. The authorities justified the decision, which also applies to other French overseas territories with the exception of Wallis and Futuna, with a significantly improved pandemic situation and a decrease in new hospital admissions of corona patients. Nevertheless, unvaccinated people must present a PCR or antigen test that is no more than 24 hours old when they travel. For fully vaccinated or recovered travelers, however, the boarding test requirement has been abolished.

Martinique is part of the Lesser Antilles and is located in the Caribbean. As an overseas department of France, the island is part of the European Union and its official currency is the euro. Martinique can be reached from the European continent in eight to nine hours.
