The island state of Mauritius is tightening entry regulations with effect from February 19, 2022. From this date, only people who can prove a booster vaccination against Covid-19 will be considered fully vaccinated.

In concrete terms, this means that all vaccines, with the exception of Johnson&Johnson, require three stitches. With the vaccine mentioned, a booster vaccination is considered a booster. Cross-vaccinations are accepted. The last injection required for entry must have been administered at least 14 days before entry.

In addition, those entering the country must present a negative PCR test that must not be older than 72 hours. This is the only way to avoid the usual hotel quarantine. There is an exception for those who have recovered: under certain circumstances, proof of a vaccination is sufficient as a booster.

Persons who are not or incompletely vaccinated against Covid-19 must undergo a 14-day hotel quarantine at their own expense. Furthermore, proof of health insurance that covers illnesses from Covid-19 on the territory of Mauritius is then mandatory.
