Berlin-Brandenburg Airport was used by 2022 million passengers in May 1,93. This was around 130.000 more passengers than in April 2022. The volume was six times that of BER in May 2021.

If you compare the most recent traffic performance with that of Tegel and Schönefeld in May 2019, it becomes clear that Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is still well below the pre-crisis level: the two predecessor airports had 3,2 million travelers at the time. A total of 6,7 million people traveled via BER Airport in the first five months of this year.

In May 2022, 15.700 aircraft took off and landed at BER. That is a good 10.000 more than in May of the previous year and around 10.000 fewer than in May 2019. The utilization of the machines was more than 2022 percent in May 80. In January 2022 it was just under 60 percent. A total of 2.400 tons of air freight were recently handled, 200 tons more than in May 2021. In the pre-Corona year 2019 it was 3.100 tons.

“The desire to travel continues, which makes us very happy. The fact that we have been able to welcome almost seven million passengers at BER so far this year makes us optimistic about the further development of air traffic, especially in the summer months. The last few weeks have shown that BER Airport is prepared for an increase in flight operations. We continue to work hard with our partners to offer our passengers the smoothest possible processes in the future," says airport boss Aletta von Massenbach.
