The Tuifly pilot Simon Huthwelker intends to start domestic German flights from Dinslaken / Schwarze Heide under the brand name Meerexpress. The first announced destinations are Norderney and Juist. The routes are to be served with a nine-seat propeller plane.

Meerexpress is aiming to start the seasonal routes by the end of March 2021. According to the company website, the routes should be served several times a week. Huthwelker told Westdeutscher Rundfunk that he will continue to be a pilot at Tuifly and that he will also fly for his start-up on a part-time basis for two to three days.

Snacks and drinks are to be served to passengers on board. The co-pilot seat can also be booked for an extra charge of 35 euros, because the small propeller-driven aircraft are operated in what is known as a single-pilot operation. The cheapest ticket is 99 euros one-way and includes 20 kilograms of free baggage and hearing protection.

Meerexpress GmbH acts as the marketer of the flights. Itzehoer Airservice GmbH will be operationally active. It is therefore also clear that the flights are carried out with a Cessna Caravan. According to the company website, the operator currently has two units registered as D-FUNC and D-FUNK. Needless to say, the airline has a valid AOC. Tickets can already be purchased from the homepage www.meerexpress.de to be bought.

The whole thing would be more interesting with a float plane with take-off and landing in the water.
Anyone who has ever flown with such a device knows that it can get pretty bumpy.
