The US airline Mesa Airlines, in cooperation with a partner, is building a European offshoot called "Flite". This is to be launched in the first quarter of 2023 with a Maltese AOC.

Mesa Airlines announced a long time ago that they want to expand with a new branch in Europe. With a fleet of 168 machines, it is one of the largest ACMI providers in the United States. Among other things, they fly with Bombardier CRJ-900 for American Airlines and with Embraer 175 for United Airlines. It also operates Boeing 737 cargo aircraft for DHL Express.

Mesa Airlines actually wanted to start with the European branch at the end of 2021. However, various circumstances have led to the project being postponed by more than a year to the first quarter of 2023. AOC and operating license have already been applied for at the Maltese aviation authority.

In Europe, too, the aim is primarily to provide ACMI and charter services. First you want to be active with the machine type Bombardier CRJ-900. According to Mavio News, the brand name Flite has already been decided on. The new aviation company will work in cooperation with Gramercy Associates and will compete directly with, for example, Air Nostrum, Xfly and CItyjet.
