On November 1, 2022, at Mexico City Airport, a passenger freaked out and attacked an Emirates check-in clerk. The dispute is said to have been triggered by two circumstances: on the one hand, the traveler's passport had expired and, on the other hand, he appeared at the counter after the registration time.

As a result, the check-in agent had to refuse the woman a flight. That was probably the right decision, because it turned out to be a dangerous "unruly-PAX". The excluded passenger did not want to acknowledge the decision and freaked out. She threw her laptop, his open suitcase and other items at the airport employee. At the same time, she shouted abuse and even began to hit the ground workers.

Other employees tried – without any notable success – to intervene and calm the situation down. That at least ended the physical attacks, but the woman then stood on the counter, clearly showed her butt to the check-in agents and yelled wild insults at other passengers. The security service and the police had to be called to help and then they took action.

Emirates said of the incident: "We can confirm that on November 1st, an incident occurred at the check-in desk of Mexico City International Airport where a passenger was late arriving at the check-in desk , was traveling with an expired passport. The passenger was denied onward travel, became restless and physically insulted the ground staff, prompting airport security and police to intervene. The safety of our passengers and staff is paramount and will not be compromised."
