With A321LR: HiSky Europe applies for approval for USA flights

Romanian airline HiSky Europe has applied for the rights to start scheduled and charter flights to the United States of America. The aircraft type Airbus A321LR is to be used.

Despite the Openskies Agreement, foreign airlines have to apply for a so-called Foreign Air Carrier Permit as well as an approval for scheduled and charter flights. As a rule, these are granted in a comparatively unbureaucratic manner. The carrier has not yet communicated any US plans.

At the beginning of April 2023, the first of two Airbus A321LRs was taken over. This has already been put into regular service and bears the registration YR-WOW. The second unit, the YR-WIN, is to be delivered shortly. Should HiSky be approved and actually fly between Romania and the United States, it would be the first carrier to do so in many years. Tarom hasn't been on the air between the two states for a long time.
