Aid supplies were flown from Malta to Turkey last week with the de Havilland Dash 8-100, which bears the registration 9H-ALM. Food, blankets, warm clothing, baby items and many other items urgently needed in the aftermath of the earthquake were on board the turboprop aircraft.

The relief supplies were donated by a large number of Maltese private individuals as a result of a private initiative. The population was called upon to make donations in kind intended for the earthquake-stricken region in Turkey. Anyone who wanted could provide as much or as little as they wanted or could.

Captain Mark Berg and First Officer Thomas Oyston, both working for Maltese Universal Air, flew the donations in kind from Luqa to Adana on February 16, 2023. The relief supplies were immediately distributed to the population there. The aircraft used was the de Havilland Dash 8-100 with the registration 9H-ALM. This aircraft was delivered to Ryukyu Air Commuter in 1997 and has been used by the Maltese carrier for some time. On the way from Malta to Turkey, a refueling stop had to be made at Heraklion Airport for technical reasons.
