The Latvian airline Air Baltic will operate a base in Las Palmas in the winter flight schedule 2023/24. Two Airbus A220-300 are stationed on site, with which some destinations in the Baltic region and in Scandinavia are headed for.

Air Baltic will serve ten non-stop connections from this airport, which is located on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria. According to the company, the sale of tickets is scheduled to start on June 21, 2023.

“When preparing for the coming season, we always carefully analyze the market dynamics. For the winter months, when overall passenger demand is traditionally lower around the world, we saw an opportunity to optimize our capacity to be as efficient as possible – by establishing a seasonal base and deploying two aircraft from Las Palmas to cover the to serve demand for sun and leisure destinations. This expanded presence in Gran Canaria not only improves connectivity, but also offers passengers a wide range of convenient travel options,” explains Managing Director Martin Gauss.

With the base of two aircraft in Las Palmas, the carrier is practicing a strategy to optimize crew rotation efficiency and maximize aircraft utilization by allowing the aircraft to operate on routes that pass through the airline's existing bases and served cities.
