Montenegro buys Embraer 195 with only one engine

The government of Montenegro has decided that an Embraer 195 owned by the Brazilian bank BNDS should be bought. This is the machine with the registration 4O-AOC and was formerly in service with Montenegro Airlines.

The affected aircraft has not been in use for a long time because the insolvent ex-state carrier was no longer able to raise the necessary funds for repairs. The successor Air Montenegro did not have the money to buy this Embraer 195.

The Ministry of Finance has now confirmed a media report by "Vijesti". Accordingly, the government is now taking over the aircraft and will lease it to Air Montenegro. Since December 26, 2020, the 4O-AOC has been based at Podgorica Airport.

However, you have to put a lot of money into this Embraer 195, because due to open invoices from Montenegro Airlines, the left engine was seized and is now being sold. Specifically, this means that you need at least a new GE CF34-10E. Not much is known about the condition of the right engine. The management of Air Montenegro estimates the cost of getting the 4O-AOC "fit to fly" again at around 8,2 million euros.
