More than 1,2 million passengers: VIE continues to rise in March

Vienna Airport is again handling significantly more passengers than a year ago, but the level before the corona pandemic was still a long way off. The number of passengers in March was 1.239.741 at the Vienna location, around six times as high as in March 2021.

Compared to the pre-crisis level, the passenger volume is only around 52 percent from March 2019, according to the carrier in a broadcast. In the group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport), the number of travelers increased in March to 1.582.004, compared to the pre-crisis level, the passenger volume there is around 55 percent.

At the Vienna location, the number of local passengers rose by 535 percent to 989.464 people and that of transfer passengers by 329 percent to 244.968 people. Flight movements increased by 204 percent to 11.793 take-offs and landings, which is only 56,4 percent of the pre-crisis level. Cargo volume increased by 2021 percent to 2,1 tons compared to March 22.001.
