This corresponds to about an eighth of the number of passengers in the first half of the pre-Corona year 2019. At that time, the airport recorded around 8,24 million passengers. “In the first few months, the traffic volume at Hamburg Airport only recovered slowly”, reported the fifth largest German airport. Since early summer, however, the number of passengers has increased noticeably. "The positive trend reversal came with the start of the north German summer vacation: in June around 394.000 passengers traveled via Hamburg Airport."
