Start of the conversion work in Terminal 2 of the Bavarian airport: The central security check is expected to be modernized and technically upgraded by autumn 2024. eu

Instead of the well-known, classic checkpoints, lanes with innovative technology are to be used in the future. From December 12, 2022, the Lufthansa service island on departure level 04 will be enclosed. It will then be dismantled in the coming weeks to create the necessary free space. During the conversion phase of the control lanes from next January, passengers will find different routes - in addition, the number of control lanes has been reduced in some cases, according to Munich Airport.

Once the work is complete, passengers at Munich Airport in Terminal 2 will benefit from a total of 15 new security control lanes that meet the highest standards of comfort and ergonomics. The Air Office South of the government of Upper Bavaria, which is responsible for passenger checks at Munich Airport, uses special computer tomographs (CT scanners).
