An emergency exercise in which around 700 people took part was carried out at Münster/Osnabrück Airport last weekend.

The following scenario was simulated: A medium-haul Airbus A320 jet carrying 114 passengers has hydraulic problems. When landing, the aircraft veers off the runway and stops in the grass. The main landing gear collapses and the left engine catches fire. About half of the travelers are injured and four deaths are simulated.

The airport fire brigade, which arrived first, was supported by external fire brigades, rescue services and aid organizations from the surrounding towns and communities in fighting the fire and rescuing the passengers.
