On Monday, May 22, 2023, Austrian Airlines flight OS112 had to be evacuated from Munich Airport. The Airbus A320 with the registration OE-LBW was on its way to the runway about half an hour after the scheduled departure time.

The pilots noticed a burning smell. For safety reasons, the fire brigade was called to help. This arrived quickly and the evacuation of the medium-haul jet was then initiated. Technicians then examined the machine and quickly found the cause.

According to Austrian Airlines, a heater in the front area is said to have been defective. Lufthansa Technik was able to repair the OE-LBW at Munich Airport so that this Airbus A320 could take off shortly before 13:00 p.m. towards Vienna-Schwechat.
