Munich Airport has officially phased out a fire engine that was already in use at the old Riem Airport. The MAN truck-based body from Saval Kronenburg was adopted in 1991.

The airport fire engine has now been handed over to a museum where it can be viewed along with other large exhibits. The spectrum of the exhibition ranges from the historic hand-held pressure pump from the 19th century to modern fire engines, which have a range of up to 70 meters for extinguishing agent foam or extinguishing water.

In June 1994, the Munich airport fire brigade made an entry in the Guinness Book of Records with a similarly equipped, 1.000 hp fire engine: a top speed of 141 km/h was measured during the record run at Munich Airport.
