Israel has practically cut itself off from the outside world since the beginning of the pandemic. The government is now daring to cautiously open the door - under strict conditions.
After the start of the vaccination campaign, the nine-million-inhabitant country turned out to be the vaccination world champion, and accordingly the number of new infections and severe cases is continuously falling. This is ensuring that Israel is taking further steps towards normalcy: from May 23, foreign tourists should also be allowed to enter the country again.
This is reported, among other things, by the aviation portal airliners. But of course not without meeting certain requirements. The government is relying on negative PCR tests and vaccination certificates. But not all tourists are allowed to visit the country at the same time, tour groups make the beginning. The numbers would then be adjusted in accordance with the “health situation and the progress of the program”.
The country, which is economically dependent on tourism, had previously suffered severe scars under its isolation. In the meantime, around five million of the roughly nine million inhabitants have received the second dose. It is precisely these advances that pave the way for relaxation.
