The regional administration of the Italian island of Sicily announced on Monday that in the future all people coming from abroad will have to complete a rapid corona test. It is the first agency to officially announce the introduction of antigen testing.

Until October 30, 2020, travelers have to register online via a platform of the Sicily region. A quick test must be completed after the ship has landed or arrived. This should deliver a result within a quarter of an hour. At the same time, the protective measures will also be tightened on Wednesday: Sicily will then also require MNS masks to be worn outdoors, provided that at least one stranger is nearby. This is likely to be the case more often on a sidewalk. Only children up to a maximum of six years are exempt.

The regional government justified the measures by stating that a sensitive phase would occur at the beginning of the flu season. There is still no reliable information about the costs of the corona rapid tests and who will bear them. In any case, this type of testing is considerably cheaper. The market price is currently between ten and 20 euros.
