Tough crackdown when fewer corona infections occur is quite common in China. Nine employees at Nanjing Airport tested positive. As a result, 100 flights had to be canceled on Tuesday, and 300 connections were canceled on Wednesday.

The Chinese health authorities have ordered mass testing. This affects not only passengers and airport staff, but these have also been extended to surrounding residential areas. The city of Nanjing can currently only be left with a negative corona test.

There is a close-knit test system at the local airport. The nine infections were found during regular tests. According to a statement by the authorities, those affected and potential contact persons were quarantined. The mass tests ordered mean that hundreds of flight connections cannot be carried out.
