In Germany, pharmacies are currently unable to issue EU vaccination certificates. The background is a software problem with the portal of the German Pharmacists' Association. A vulnerability was found which, according to the DAV, needs to be investigated.
In contrast to Austria, Covid vaccinations are not automatically recorded in a central register in Germany. Vaccinated persons can have the EU certificate issued in medical practices, vaccination centers and pharmacies on presentation of their classic vaccination pass or another certificate. Numerous EU countries criticize the approach, as it seems possible, at least in theory, that forged vaccination passports could be “legalized” in digital EU vaccination records.
The Handelsblatt revealed that it was even possible to issue the coveted EU certificates via a guest account that was issued to a fictitious pharmacy for test purposes. Now the professional representative reacts and temporarily interrupts the issuing of the certificates in all pharmacies. How long will this condition last? That is still completely open.
The German Federal Ministry of Health also confirmed on request that the EU vaccination certificates are temporarily only available in the vaccination centers and in medical practices. Access via the portal that the pharmacies have previously used would have been temporarily deactivated.
