The Syrian airport in Damascus was fired at by rockets from Israel last Friday. This caused serious damage to the infrastructure. The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority has now temporarily closed this airport.

The two runways and a terminal must first be repaired. These were badly damaged by the rocket attacks. Israel justified the attack, among other things, by accusing Syria of handling weapons for terrorist organizations there. However, no concrete evidence was presented.

Syrianair explained, among other things, that the repair work had to be awaited. Most of the fleet was at Damascus Airport at the time of the bombing. Therefore, you can currently only fly with those machines that were outside of the city. When flight operations from Damascus can be resumed is completely open.

Cham Wings Airlines will initially fly from Aleppo. Two Airbus A320s will be deployed from there. The state news agency Sana reports, among other things, that the offer is still limited, as at least one plane is said to be stuck in Damascus.
